Front Spring Specifications
Material: Chromium steel alloy
Front Spring Leaf Width: 1-3/4 inches
Front Spring Free Length: 30-13/16 inches to 30-15/16 inches
Leaf Thickness: 1-31/32 inches to 2-1/16 inches
Height From Top To Bottom (as sitting on floor): 6-15/16 inches to 7-1/16 inches
Center of Eye to Eye: 30-5/8 inches to 30-13/16 inches
 To fit in the cross member, sometimes the top leaf must have the top edge ground on a taper. To disassemble, use two C-clamps to hold the leafs together. Remove the shipping center pin and slowly release the C-clamps. Apply graphite lube (like our RSP105) or a spring liner (A5310PS1) to each leaf, using the clamps to compress the leafs together. Install the correct square head bolt, cut off the excess length and use a hammer to peen over the bolt on the nut. Most 1928-31 Model A Ford front springs are fatigued from years of engine weight. |
