The "1964-1/2 Model" Mustang was offered ar $2,368, FOB Detroit. Lee A. Iacocca, the Ford Division's General Manager, is generally credited with the concept, design, and introduction of the Mustang. The "Shelby" Mustang appeared in 1965 as a highly specialized fastback. In 1968-1970, "Shelby" convertibles were also available. In the 6 "Shelby" years of production, 14,368 were built.
Mustang body styles and models include the Hardtop, Fastback, Convertible, Grande, Mach 1, Boss 302, Boss 351, and Boss 429.
The total 1964 1/2-1973 production was 2,978,271.
